Probably a dumb 625 Question...

I've had my 625 for 3 months now and there is something that I keep trying to figure out.

Is there a way when setting a future timer from TV1 that I can tell it to record on TV1? I'm in dual mode with TV2 set to default, but I can't seem to find a way to change from the default on future timers. I know if I'm watching the program on TV1 and hit record I get the option of TV1 or TV2, but is there an option screen when setting up timers from the EPG?

I think you can change the record plus preference before you set the timer and then change it back...but I have never tried it. I'll give it a try tonight...

I had a feeling that's what I'd have to do. Nothing like adding a bunch of extra steps for what could be a simple check box on the timer setup screen.

Another work around is to setup a dummy program first so it goes to TV 2, then you setup the show you want record and it should go to TV 1.

After that you can skip the dummy program on TV 2.

This doesn't work 100% of the time because sometimes after you skip the dummy program on TV 2, TV 1 recording sometimes goes to TV 2

Really dumb question. Why does it matter whether the rcording comes from TV1 or TV2. You get the recording and you can watch it whenever wherever you want.

Because I cannot watch something else on the TV that is recording the pre-timed event. It's basically so I could plan my evening and set up all my recordings at once. Let's say I'll be on TV1 watching programs from 8-10 while I'm recording programs on TV2 at the same time. Then at 10:00 I go up to go to bed to watch TV (TV2) while I record something else on TV1. This requires me to use 2 different TVs to set up my recordings in advance.

It would just be nice to program all the timers at once from TV1.

Ok.
My main TV recieves the TV1 output of my 625 via S-Video to Video 1. I have a DVD recorder output hooked up to Video 4(component) of my main TV. The DVD input comes from TV2( RCA ) of the 625.
That way when recording to TV1 I just swith the TV over to the video input from the DVD and watch TV2.
I also get to copy recorded stuff to DVD via TV2 without interupting my watching my main TV.

Might as well make it more confusing.
The modulated TV2 output of the 625 is combined( see here http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=54477 )
with the DPP44 feed to a 301 in the bedroom so I can watch TV2 from the 625 and/or recorded stuff from the 625 in the bedroom or just watch the 301 in the bedroom.
