i have the dish 612 receiver and i've been trying to get it to work with my samsung twz 412 t surround sound system. i got it to work with my samsung tv but not the 412.i've tried all the codes and the auto scan but still nothing.any ideas?

if you autoscan and tried the codes, it wont work because the ir pulse may be too long for our remotes to handle. during the autoscan, the remotes fire off every code in their database, so if one didnt match up then the best you can do is get a learning remote like the 20.0 or 21.0

The 24 series remote has a remote learning feature, your best bet is to get one from dish and use that.

This is the remote I'm speaking of.

The red, green, yellow, and blue buttons are for this specific purpose. The remote has a sensor on the side where you would point your surround sound system remote to have the dish remote "learn" it. The only drawback is it doesn't always work and you're limited to 4 buttons. In your case you could have one turn it on and off, one turn the volume up, another to turn it down, and one to switch inputs... Just as an example.

What is your remote model #?

I'm guessing you are trying it in AUX mode. If so, enter a '2' before the three digit code.

Did you try these for Samsung?

Here's a list for the DVD codes, which might be worth trying if all else fails:
Samsung
571 606 643 644 652 667
668 691 699 716 740 741 805 820
821 844 845 849 866 869 875 881

895 896 900

Good luck

i have the 6.4 ir/uhf pro ,it came with the 612 receiver.i tried all the extra codes and i put the 2 in front of each code but still no luck.one other thing, this remote will not work in the UHF mode which uses the external antenna.my receiver will not respond to it unless i reverse the bottom plastic piece and set it to IR.

In the battery cover in the remote there should be a switch that says "A" and "B". Switch it to A.

Press menu, 6,1,3 to go to the system info screen. Press the record button on the remote.

I only have a 722k so this is sort of a shot in the dark as it were.

Maybe it is your remote. Do you have another one to try?

But if the IR is working, it should still be working for the Samsung - which should be IR as well. Are you using the power button after the code entry to test if a code is working?

I doubt all those codes I listed were included in the 612 book, because my 722 book didn't have all the codes I needed. I pulled those codes from the 21.0 remote code list online which seems to have more codes than any other. I'm guessing when you said 'I tried all the extra codes' that you meant the ones I listed. Try them if you didn't.

Does the regular remote work on the Samsung 412? Do you have anything strange setup in the room that might be interfering with the IR signal from the remote?

You could always get the remotes mentioned above - I think they are like $20. I just about bought one, but then I found a work around for my setup. I'm able to bounce the IR signal off a wall when I sit in the office and control the satellite from TV1 in dual mode.
