Remote is 1056B01

The one in fam rm has failed. I grabbed the one from living room to use until I can swap this one.

I need to program it to control volume via the receiver amplifier (as the broken one did). I found these instructions:

Locking Volume Control To One Mode (Global
Volume Lock)
NOTE: The audio mode’s volume controls are active
regardless of Volume Lock settings. However,
if you lock the volume controls to the AUD
mode, you will control the audio device’s vol-
ume in all other modes (i.e., VCR, DVD, TV, or
CBL). This can be an advantage if, for exam-
ple, you always listen to home entertainment
devices through your receiver’s speakers.
Now, when you press VOL+, VOL-,or MUTE, the volume of
the selected device (e.g., TV) is controlled regardless of
mode.
3. Press VOL- once. The last-selected device key
will blink four times.
1. On the remote control, press and hold SETUP
until the last-selected device key blinks twice.
2. Enter 9 9 3. The last-selected device key will
blink twice.
3. Press VOL+ once. The last-selected device key
will blink four times.
1. On the remote control, press and hold SETUP
until the last-selected device key blinks twice.
2. Enter 9 9 3. The last-selected device key will
blink twice.
3. Select a mode (e.g., TV or AUD) which you
want to use to control the volume. The
selected device key will blink twice.

I perform those steps exactly; the lights blink exactly as described, but the remote still does not control the volume via the AVR or by anything for that matter. The AUD light DOES come on when I press V+ or V- but the volume does not go up or down.
???

does the remote turn off and on the receiver?

I found the problem. Obvious. The remote from the other room was not coded to control this receiver...the other room does not have an AVR in it. Had a hard time finding the right code (for Onkyo TX-SR575), but once I got that in, it worked.

I traded in the remote that was failing and now have a 1056B03 to set up. Some parts of this are driving me insane.

See these instructions:
Locking Channel Control to CBL

1. On the remote control, press CBL once; it will
blink once. Press and hold SETUP until the
CBL key blinks twice.

2. Enter 9 7 3. The CBL key will blink twice.

3. Press CH+ once. The CBL key will blink twice.

Now, regardless of what mode you select (except AUD),
the channel keys will only change channels on your cable
converter.

Does not work. I have done it exactly as prescribed for about 10 times, and the channel controls do NOTHING unless CBL is selected. I tried setting it to unlock (CH-) then back to CH+, but still does not "take."

For later, I have other difficulties (finding workable codes) for a
- CD jukebox 300CD changer, Sony CDP-CX355
and a
- DVD/VCR combo, Magnavox MRV-700VR
and figuring out which key to put each of those "under" (VCR or DVD)

dvd/vcr combos were always tricky. You have to try the codes for a dvd and a vcr and see which works. Because either the manufacturer made it a "vcr" with a dvd player or a "dvd" player with a vcr on it. Id try the DVD first if it is a newer model.

How about the channel locking question?

Worse, now I have just discovered that ch+ ch- and keying a channel number does not work. Favorites button does move the channel.

EDIT: Solved, I think.
Did a global erase and put everything back in.
I **think** channel and volume are working OK now but may not have checked everything yet.

Still have not found codes yet for
- CD jukebox 300CD changer, Sony CDP-CX355
and
- DVD/VCR combo, Magnavox MRV-700VR

Well, the new remote, within two days, has failed in exactly the same way that the previous one did--the CBL light ON constantly, even after batteries removed, then replaced.

It IS transmitting something because the TV goes black every few seconds and comes back on on the same channel.

Is there a hard reset that can be done on the remote, like holding down some key while batt put in?

Sounds like a stuck button to me. Jiggle each button until you find the culprit.

Low batteries will cause blinking. Processor fault will cause 4 blinks. Solid is a button being pressed.

Do you eat a lot of honey when you watch TV?

I will try key jiggle, but that remote is new from 2 days ago out of the plastic. Hasn't had any food around it
