I have directv and a Magnavox tv that I am trying to program my Directv remote to control turn on & off at the same time. It will turn the reciever and the tv on but only the rciever turns off. Otherwise every other button will work. Any suggestions?

Try another code. Sometimes a code will work some of the TV functions but not all. Try all the codes until you find one that operates the on/off function and the volume function. Then you will be set.
