I have been having fun recording shows with my Visionsat. What is a good, preferrably free, program to take the files on my hard drive with the .ts extension and burn them to a dvd so that they will play on my dvd player? I don't necessarily want to edit the video, just burn it as/is in a fast, painless manner.

I tried HDTV2DVD with a transport stream from my Twinhan Satellite card and it works too.

Another thing you can do is use HDTVtoMPEG2

To edit the transport stream and then use HDTV2DVD.

Or you can break the transport stream into parts with HDTVtoMPEG2 and burn them to DVD.

HDTVtoMPEG2 allows you to combine the split files back together if you want to.

I use VideoReDo for my editing.
Mostly to take out commercials, and trim the beginning and end of shows.

For registered users (paid), there is now a beta version available (free) to test their new DVD-making capability.
It gives you "authoring" capability with menus and chapters, and also the actual "burn" to DVD-drive ability.
They even have a very helpful tech forum, with the friendliness of SatGuy's...

It would probably be the elegant answer that would do you for today, and stay with you when you look for more features in the future.
When you get through playing with the freebies, give it a try.

btw: I think we're talking standard definition, here.
I don't understand the HD comments above.
.ts is just "transport stream" and does not imply HD.
