What exactly are QAM channels, and how do I identify them with my TivoHD using Charter? Are they any different than my HD locals I receiver through an OTA antenna?

They should be different. On the TiVO you can run a channel scan and it will pick up the cable company's QAM channel assignment for the digital channels you can get (I think). But you get little if any guide data and you can only access what's in the clear. I don't know if it will pick them up if you have a cablecard installed.
