I have a current (legacy) setup with the Dish antenna output goning into 2 Dish Video Path Multi Dish SW21 Switches. The output of each switch goes into a Dish 501 PVR using 110 and 119 satellites.

I bought a Dish 625 DVR to replace one of the 501's for the increased storage. That 501 PVR feeds a TV in the main room and a TV downstairs. I want to keep using the second 501 PVR in the study.

Can I use the new 625 DVR with just one satellite input instead of two while using the RF remote instead of the infra-red remote? Or can I use some kind of splitter to split the satellite signal as input to the second 501 so it can feed the second 501 and the new 625's second satellite input?

You need to feed both tuners on the 625 if you want it to work properly, especially if you want a different signal on the tv from the second output. Easiest way is to change your legacy lnb's t a DishProPlus Twin, you will have to remove the sw-21 from the line to the 501 and use a DPP Separator to feed both tuners from one coax run to the 625.

Thanks for the help! I was making it far more complicated that needed.

It came with a Dishpro Plus Twin LNBF but I was not sure it was needed, now I do.

After your reply, I did some digging and found the following links in case some else is looking for the info:

I'll order the Dishpro Plus Seperator from Dishstore.net

Thanks again!

The separator usually comes packaged with the receiver, I would double check that before ordering a new one. (it looks like a splitter.)
