I have the explorer 8300 hd box and was wondering if the usb or firewall was enabled in which i could take recorded programs off it and put it on cd.

You can't use USB. You can use the composite out 2 with the copy to VCR function, and I believe you can use firewire, but I have never done it. AVS forum should have instructions on how to do it.
