So Dtv came out and put in a genie in my room and a wired mini in a spare room, the model number is hr54-500
, is this the same as the 700?

Unless you are getting 4k, there is no real difference between them.

I just went from a HR44 to a HR54 and the main differences (aside from 4k support) are the video outputs on the back and the front lights. Menus, speed and hard drive space are exactly the same. Oh, and the red reset button is on the right instead of behind a hidden door on the front.

The cpu and hard drive are exactly the same

I'm not sure of the exact release date, but the Solid Signal review of the HR54 was in 2015.

HR54 is around 4 years old. The HS17 is about 1-2

Yes there is a new revision that got rid of that and changed uses a cheaper plastic now
