I have a Dish 500 with the America's Top 180 Package. The Local Channels that I get are the Distant Atlanta Locals. Now, for some reason I have the Atlanta Locals and the Macon Locals. What's going on? Should I say anything or not?

Moms the word unless you get billed.

Don't know how long you have had your system. But I do know sveral customers that had Distant locals before Dish provided the actual locals in this area. And when the locals here were added they didn't loose the distant locals.. But as stated above look at your bill.. The ones I know here were billed for both. If you don't mind paying the bill, just keep quiet about it.

We have had dish network for about 6 years, and have a dish 500 for about 2 years. The receiver we have is the one we got when we purchased dish after transferring from direct TV.

Did you just notice these this morning? My locals are also showing up in the guide as of this morning as well along with my NY/LA distants. I am debating whether Dish needs to be called about this or not. I just know I'll get some moron that when I tell them "remove my locals", they'll cut NY/LA instead and I'll be SOL.

Is Dish getting ready to turn off your distants?? And/Or in a related issue, Dish has been preparing to drop Atlanta from the distants choices for awhile and move them to spotbeams.

well in all fairness you guys should lose your distants.

If dish is offers your locals there's no reason for you to have distants.

I hope dish turns them off while they go through re-qualifying everyone

If they had distants before the locals were offered, and are in a white area, they are able to retain the distants unless they drop them. Why would you wish someone to lose something they enjoy? Not a very good "proud" staff member to wish someone to lose them.

Wow, that statement really concerns me. I have a reason to want to get locals from somewhere else. But instead I get them only from my local area. If I were given a choice I would certainly pay for them from another DMA.
But since Dish has nothing to do with who can get them, and would sell them to anyone if the government and the networks had stayed out, I certainly would not put down what someone else has been lucky enough to have. Why does fairness in this case even come up

Well, when we first got Dish, we had NY Distant Locals. Then we were offered Atlanta Locals. I live right in between the Albany and Macon market areas. Macon is not considered local in parts of the county and Albany is the same way in the county. Right now I am getting Macon locals as of this morning. I'm very frustrated in how DISH operates their local signals so please don't give me your opinion if you havent been through the same problem. Don't wish my locals away!

Also, Albany provides more local coverage to our area which is more appealing to me than Macon. I also thought you could only get locals with a SuperDish.

Yea I thought that was a pretty crappy statement. Sounds like someone that wishes they had distants themselves. Too bad for them, but don't wish harm on those of us that do have them.

Posted this in my thread about this, but I'll repost it here:

Ok.. UPDATE

I just called Dish and entered my phone #. After it said "We see you are one of our most valued customers. blah blah blah... it said "for information about your free preview of your local channels, please press 1" So I pressed 1 and it said that I will be receiving a free preview of my my locals from now until the end of 2006 and to tune to channels 2-69 to see them. It said beginning January 1, 2007 I will begin being billed $5.99 a month for these channels. It then said if I do not want my local channels, please call a CSR and we will remove them. It also said to tune to channel 240 for more information (240 is not available). HMM, so I am thinking I need to call Dish and remove these as quickly as possible before there are potential problems?

Most of the locals on SuperDishes were moved many months ago. Also, I've had my locals and distants for some time now, don't see any change here.
