I have a question on setting up a new 622 and a new 1000 Plus dish. If I only planned on having the one 622, do you need the DPP44 switch as well? Or would you only need to add that on if you started adding more receivers?

No, you would not need the DPP44 switch. If it is a DishProPlus head, you would need the switch till you added 3 or more receivers.

Incorrect.
The Dish 1000+ has has four outputs on it, 110, 119, 118.7, and 129.... so you need to take it into a DPP44 switch. It doesnt have a DPPtwin that garys is thinking of.

Thanks for the clarifaction. I keep getting this confused. Dish 1000, 1000+ or 1000.2 do not work in my area.

Yeah, it used to be so much easier when we just had to use Dish 300 and 500's.
In our area we use 500's, 1000.2, and 1000+ (for part of our area that needs 118.7).

Thanks for all of the information guys! So am I right in thinking that if I only want one dish, then it has to be the 1000+ to get the HD stuff, otherwise i would have to get a 1000 or a 1000.2, plus a Dish 500 to get everything. But you are saying if I went the 2 dish route it would not need a switch?

Do you know if your area uses the 118.7 satellite for any of its HD channels? If it does it would just be the HD locals.
If you do use the 118.7, then you HAVE to use the Dish 1000+.
If you don't use the 118.7 then you just need a Dish 1000.2 (and no additional switch)

I am not sure off the top of my head if we use 118.7 here or not. I do already have a 1000+ and a 622, and had to goto the 1000+ for my locals, so I am guessing we are on the 118.7 sat.
