[VOOM] Goodbye Voom

The only reason I tried it was the $300 rebate promotion. The movie
networks were terrible. The same bad movies month after month. At
least I only had to pay one bill.Ive tried to call Voom up but all I
got was a recording saying they are having technical problems lol.Im
sure all their employees at the call center were let go.Which is
better for my next dish this week Dish Network or Directtv? Will not
go back to cable!

------------------------

Who are you? You are completely wrong and spreading false rumors. The call
center is open. The signal is still strong and installations are still
being scheduled. Did you dial 1-800-GET-VOOM? really? I had to wait a few
minutes just now but I got through.

Not only did I get through, I just got scheduled for two more IRD's and an
antenna upgrade. Partially to prove a point and also because I expect that
VOOM will be positioned as "VOOM at Dishnet" and be there premium HD service
tier.
The government currently says that a DSS provider has to be able to provide
service on one satellite dish, so if they are providing two seperate
services as a "package" they may be able to get around the requirement and
beat DTV out as the HD leader by far.
There is absolutely no way for anyone to authoritatively know what the
situation will be in a few months form now. But that would be a great way
for Charlie to be #1 in HD and at this juncture that would be brilliant!

[VOOM] Re: Goodbye Voom

Well, I've had Voom turned off for several months waiting for the
DVR. At the time, I had a $177 credit on my account....I just got
the January bill, and they charged me $177 as a "reverse promotional
credit", so my balance is $0, and the bill states that it is the
Final Bill....

So either Voom has decided to remove my credit, or is really going
away.

Re: [VOOM] Re: Goodbye Voom

How did you get the credit? From originally purchasing a receiver at a
higher price then present price? have you called VOOM to ask about your
account? They answered a call from me today.

Prior to Voom, I was a very satisfied Dish customer for 7 years. So
if you want to bail, that's were I'd go. But I'm hanging in there. I
won't change until the plug is pulled - IF it's pulled. Everything
we're reading says there's only 26K customers, yet there was a major
marketing push in 4Q04 that apparently did some good. The installer
that set me up said they've been swamped. I'm curious as to what the
new number is... The buyer is going to want to make all those
customers come over to their service - whether it's a continuation of
VOOM or an incorporation into the existing service. So I'm sitting
put, and will wait to see how this plays out.

As Gill says, still watching under clear (and chilly!) skies in Dallas...

[VOOM] Re: Goodbye Voom

Susan, "chilly" in Dallas? Geez, you're right-32 tonight. But then
we're supposed to feel sorry for you when it will be 70 on Tues.?
Heh, heh.

Keep watching VOOM down there while you're "suffering".

Watching HDTV while "suffering" in Seattle with 46 promised for
tonight and 56 for tomorrow (actually, I envy your weather, Susan), Gill

P.S.: Desperate Housewives is on in 16'!

[VOOM] Re: Goodbye Voom

Good morning everyone, Was just reading the posts and read where
someone said thier installer said they was swamped with Voom installs.
Same here we just moved and had to have a reinstall and I got the same
story. So I wonder what the real number of voomers really is. Freezing
in Ohio and hanging on to Voom and loving it!

[VOOM] Re: Goodbye Voom

I'm an original VOOMER, since 11/05/03.
We all want to see the service continue, I'm so used to having the
system now it would suck to see it go. But allot of us in the
beginning felt VOOM was foolish to try to make money on the hardware
in the beginning. These $1 deals / lease deals should have been
rolled out from the start, that's what the other DBS do.
Hanging in there to see what happens though.
