Which dual receivers are equipped with Mpeg 2 and Mpeg 4 compression? I have a standard definition contract but might upgrade to HD in the future.

You want one of four receivers.
VIP722, has two tuners and outputs for two TV's one in HD one in SD
VIP612 has two tuners for one TV - Very stable receiver now
211K - not a DVR but is HD
Hopper - three tuners - I think there are some posts about the hopper here......:)

Just go to the Dish website and look at the HD receviers, those are the choices. You don't need to worry about what Mpeg.

I want a tuner that I can connect to 2 tvs. I was trying to decided between a 625, 622, and 722. Also, what is the difference in a 622 and 612?

No (on the 311 comment)! Solo mpeg-4 receivers include 411/211/211k and 612. Duo receivers include 622/722/722k/922. Trio receivers include the Hopper.

You can connect any Dish receiver to multiple TVs. I think you mean having two tuners for independent control from two TVs. The 612 won't work that way, even though it's got 3 tuners (2 sat, 1 OTA), because all the outputs are mirrored; no independent control.

You don't want a 625 since that's an mpeg-2/SD receiver.

The only difference between a 622 and a 722 is the color and the size of the disk. IIRC, the 622 has a 320GB disk, while the 722 has a 500GB disk. The 722k is a 722 with an optional dual-tuner OTA module; this module adds the capability to watch live OTA channels from TV2. Note also that the 622 doesn't have the guts to handle a Sling Adapter, while the 722 and 722k DO.
