Receiving HD OTA

I'm a newbie. I recently bought a LCD TV with a HD tuner. I live in a wooded community, but that's the only obstruction I have. The broadcast towers are about 7-8 miles from me.

My question is simple... do I still need a receiver to get HD channels on my TV?? Or do I just need to purchase an OTA antenna and plug it into the TV???

I would prefer an indoor antenna. If there are suggestions as to the best types of antennas or receivers for my situation, I would appreciate that too.

Having a built-in atsc(HD) tuner means that no other set-top box is required to receive OTA digital channels. Just an antenna. Might be worthwhile for you to try one of the Radio Shack amplified "rabbit ear" type antennas. If it doesn't work for you, you can always return it and mount an outdoor antenna. Good luck.

Go to www.antennaweb.org for help on direction of towers. Zenith Sliver Sensor antenna is a good choice also.
