Hey all, had Dish and dropped them in '11 when I stopped RVing and moved. Getting a HWS installed on Sunday. Will it be possible to record programming from the Netflix app? Did a search but couldn't find the Answer. Also, do the techs normally carry OTA dongles and can they add them if it isn't on the order? I forgot to tell them I want one. TIA

Can't record Netlfix on Hopper. As far as the techs having the OTA dongle, I bet that probably depends, I know you can order them from Dish or other places for about $30 or so.

There is not really a reason to record Netflix unless you thought you might want to archive movies. Netflix remembers where you were and what movies you have watched so you can always go back to a movie that you left in the middle of and begin right where you left off.

I've never heard of techs carrying the OTA adapters. In fact, Dish won't even sell you one until AFTER your Hopper has been activated.

Movies don't stay on Netflix forever, they drop off after a time. There are close to 100 movies that is being dropped by Netflix in January. I have had where I seen a movie listed that I wanted to watch, came back a week or two later and it was gone. If they could be recorded I could record them as soon as I see them then watch them weeks or months later without having to worry about that.

On new years eve, the family was watching Charlie and the chocolate factory... 2 minutes before the ball dropped we went outside and watched ABC for about 30 more minutes. After that, we came in and the movie was no longer available. Just completely gone. Did not seem as if it existed anywhere anymore. I am still listening to my girlfriend go crazy, because she had never seen this one(only took her 10 years to see this 'new release')

Seriously though Guys, It's an $9 a month service.
That includes 2 Stream, on Multiple devices.
That is in HD, and is pretty damn good at VOD.

I had to order mine separately from the install as per the rep that set up my upgrade. But was able to order and have them in hand at the time of the install so we could make sure that "everything" worked before the installer left. The installer thought that was a good idea. Things may have and probably have changed.

It really doesn't have anything to do with cost. Sometime people want to watch content while offline. When I fly I prefer watching my own content and it is nice that with Amazon Prime and Dish Anywhere I am able to download and watch content offline. Unfortunately this is not nor according to Netflix will never be possible through their service as they feel that their subscribers are not capable of downloading content. http://fortune.com/2015/09/08/netflix-offline-download/

"Hunt told Gizmodo: "One of the things I've learned is that every time you offer a choice, you paralyze some people who can't decide if that's what they want to do or not. Now, that sounds really stupid and self-serving, but it is in fact true.""

Is this true? I just read through their terms of Use and could not find any mention of recording.

I did not read through the TOS, but according to this link and one of their officers it is.
Downloading videos "is a clear violation of the terms of service," said Cliff Edwards, director of corporate communications and technology at Netflix. "Our licensing agreements don't allow companies [like PlayLater] to facilitate these types of uses," he told me.
