Recording OTA on DVR522

It sounds like I want the 942. I don't want to lose the features that I have with the 522 I have such as the TV1 and TV2. I know I won't get the wife's approval on that.

One last note. When the 942 is in dual mode you can NOT view the OTA channels on TV#2. You can only use the OTA tuner in the 942 for the second TV when the receiver is set to Single mode. The only way to view signals from the OTA tuner in the receiver is if you record the OTA channel, then and only then will you be able to view Live signals or recorded events from the OTA tuner.

Will Dish activate a non-ViP HD receiver such as the 942 on an account that doesn't have a HD package? I thought they had some restrictions on that.

No, dish will not activate 942's if it is your first Dish Network HD receiver.

Yes, that will work but you can only view/record one ota channel at a time.

I have a 942 and love it. If I were to cancel my Dish service in its entirety (financial reasons) would the OTA and/or DVR part of the unit still work?
