Reelz compression

What's with the horrible compression on Reelz? Everything is stretched on either side of the screen. Not worth watching "tv about movies".

In my area, the only way to get Reelz channel in HD is Service Electric Cablevision, or Dish Network.

DirecTV only carries the SD version. DirecTV overcompresses their SD, and all SD looks terrible. Though I don't have a cable box, because I have internet and phone through the cable company, I sometimes watch DirecTV's SD channels on the Cable QAM tuner. Channels such as AMC and TruTV for example look MUCH better in 10:1 SD compression on Cable's QAM vs DirecTV's 16 ~ 20:1 compression.

If there is no HD distro feed than any service that sells you it as HD is taking the SD master feed than up converting it. This is becoming common place for quite a few channels that pizza & cable sells. If it's not HD to start with they shouldn't be marketing it as such..

The Reelz channel should be renamed "The Slasher Channel"! I attempted to watch a movie (can't remember which one now) and they slashed so much from the movie and had so many commercials that I don't even bother with this channel anymore. And the pic quality is horrible!

The Kennedy's looks TERRIBLE, theres NO way thats HD.

They would NOT have HD and only show 1 program in HD.

What makes you think that the Kennedy's in HD ?

You have a good point, it very well could be shot in HD and not shown that way. (kinda hard to SHOW in HD if the channel doesn't DO HD, on D*!)

Yes I meant stretch-o-vision. The Kennedys was absolutely NOT in HD. That's the program I was trying to watch and it is the worst stretch-o-vision I have ever seen. Hair, faces, etc were horribly strettttched to the sides.
