Since my contract with Dish Network is up, I decided yesterday to rejoin DirecTV. I will miss some of Dish Network's HD line-up, specifically AMC when Mad Men and Breaking Bad start again, but I will get over it. I was tired of the attitude of Dish Networks customer service department, and their WAY out of control fees. My install date is supposed to be next Friday. I ordered two HD DVR's with MRV, and I am hoping that I get HR24's. I hear that the HD picture quality is better than on Dish, or at least some say that it is, I look forward to seeing if that is the case. I hope that I do not miss the 722 and 922 too much, I like Dish equipment, but do not care for there fees and their customer service.

I am in no way knocking making a change to Direct TV. But you do realize, the cost for service from Dish and Direct, after any promotions, and including programming and all fees from both are very close to being the same right? And I can find you equal posts from both on people upset with customer service..... The real difference is Sports and Channels available in HD.

Welcome to the other side. I too wish they had AMC in HD, but I am a sports fan so that far outweighs Mad Men or Breaking Bad.

You'll find that DIRECTV has a surprising number of fees now. They MRV fee is just the beginning.

That's why I'm with Directv now. :) After all the discounts expire, the price will be the same or just a bit more with Directv.

Yes, I realize that the price is about the same, after the promotional period. I suppose it is the fact that Dish Network fees you to death. Does it really make a difference, no, but it would have looked better if they had left their fee system the way it was and raised programming prices. I guess you can still say you have the "cheapest" programming price though, and that would be true with just one receiver.

Welcome, I am thinking from what I have read with MRV you should be good with the HR 24's, I think you will like them

I look forward to the MRV. I have a 722 and a 922 now, and I record some things on the 922 and some in the 722 in my office. I have a HDMI extender now from the 722 to my den, so I can watch in HD in there. It will be nice to be able to access recordings from the HR in my office in the den without having to switch inputs and get another remote.

As I said earlier, be prepared for some surprises from DIRECTV on this front. There's evidence indicating that they will put a $5 TiVo fee on top of the DVR fee for the upcoming DIRECTiVo.

yep suprises
box fee - $7 dvr or non dvr (compare that to dish)
dvr fee per account and mrv fee - $10

wait what were we talking about?

That really does not surprise me. If I remember right, there was an additional fee when they had the regular DirecTivo's and the HR10-250.

Actually there is no evidence at all that there will ever be a DirecTiVo. It's nothing but vaporware at this point.

Several have reported seeing the HD DIRECTiVo as available to order on their account and one person ordered one and the system says that it has shipped.

Welcome to a better tv provider who knows what a one time DVR fee is and can add it as such. Dish CSR for usa are a great help but others from inda or some non usa soil are a joke.

After a service call i had customer was looking to save money so they called to drop to the 120 from AEP to save money. My work order was closed and was cleaning up my gear and mess went back in after 20 min and the customer was flipping out . CSR was still on the line and wanted to charge $5 to drop the pkg as the customer was told by me but also trying to set up a TC and charge to repeek the dish for better signal and was telling my customer that i never showed for the service call after 5 min of "I understand how you feel" i got on the line to get hir id # and just by luck our call got cut off. Called DNS office to see what happend and sure enuff that POS did a TC so now i dont get payed for my work put on the account that i never showed up and had to have them fix it with the customer on the line.

Customer will now be a DTV customer come monday with 2 HR24 and 4 H24 MVR and all that jaz and still be paying less then hir current setup with dish after the DTV discounds stop coming.

Dirctv and other providers should remake this classic tv spot . Replace Cable Co. With Dish and change "in the past FIVE years have raised fees 40%" to in the past year has rased Fees up to 110%

Will do, but this thing has been rumored for so long, I still won't believe it until I see it.

Is this simply more FUD from you or do you care to explain your reply. Please compare Directv's fees to Dish's.

I dont have a MRV fee...but thats right I dont have MRV

yeah like Dish and their "wheel of fees"...now lets see. That reciever fee is now $7?
$10?
oh wait..there is 2 DVR fees but one is hidden

Unless you have FACTS to back it up, go spew that back in the Dish area.

The only fee I pay on to of my package is a DVR fee and 2 extra receiver fees :)
