Remember the ABA?

The ABA was so cool- a multi-colored basketball, big hair, it introduced the three-point shot and Slam Dunk Contest, and had so many great players:

David Thompson, George "The Ice Man" Gervin, Artis Gilmore, and Julius Erving.

To me, this picture is the essence of what the ABA was:

What about Jackie Moon?

Ever heard the story of the St. Louis Spirits?

The team was still standing when the ABA merged into the NBA. It belonged to these two brothers name Silnas. They made a deal to get 1/7th of the four remaining ABA teams (Spurs, Nets, Pacers, and Nuggets) national TV money, FOREVER.

Currently its about $15M/year. For doing NOTHING.

FOREVER.

Sounds like a deal with the Devil. :dev

I always thought that was for twenty years or maybe 30, not forever. Great deal no matter the length.
