Remote Control - Compatible

Can you purchase any type of remote control and program it to your dish network receiver ( rca ) ? Is any remote control out there compatible , or do you have to get a specific kind ?

Also, can you just call up dish network and they'll send you a new remote ? Originally, when I setup dish, they gave me two remotes.. One of them that came with the system isnt working too well however.

Easiest - I'd just call them up and ask them to send you a new remote.

Some remotes are IR some are UHF, I think there are universal UHF capable remotes, but they come with a hefty price tag attached.

Is the one that's having problems the remote you have to use while in the same room as your Dish receiver? Or, is it the remote for "TV2"? That will make a big difference in determining what options you have. Also, stupid question, but have you put in fresh batteries in the remote that's having problems?
