The other day the remote for my 722 receiver did something very weird....The response time for the remote is incredibly slow. It may react as many as 2-3 seconds after I press a button. It is very noticable when using the guide button....
Anyone have any ideas? I've checked batteries and they are not the issue! Thanks

Try the buttons on the front panel. If everything is still slow, it is not your remote but your 722. I had this issue constantly on my 722k before I swapped out for the Hopper. Lots of folks did as well.

Welcome to the world of very slow remote response time. Or "Molasses Remote", as I refer to it. :)
You have been very fortunate that it has not happened sooner.
When Dish sends a software update to your box to "Better improve your Dish experience" they almost always break something.
I have been going through this for about 2 years now. Some updates on my 722k will work great, then the next one to come out will break it again.
Usually all you have to do is re-boot to fix it, but it becomes a real pain in the ass after awhile.

The longer the time since the last reboot, the slower the remote gets.
To check when the last reboot was use Menu+6+3+Counters+PageDown.
Check the Last Connect for reboot and continue many PageDowns until Fsck.
That is the Unix File System Check. It is the important one and hard to "force".
It is best to turn off and manually reboot holding the button inside the front door.
As was said better yet to do a power cord pull for a "hard" reboot.
Remove any USB cables as that may delay the reboot to "check" you EHD.

While there check your HDD High Temp. Mine is very hot right now at 140 deg.

This is a well known issue that Dish has attempted to fix in the past with releases but have not succeeded for everyone. It is a bug that has been around for about 2 years now.

Yup real pain, but can be dealt with. A reboot or two is just what the doctor ordered.

Sent from my phone using SatelliteGuys sweet app

Or you could try a new remote. Thats what I did and the new remote is much more responsive. If your's is over 3 yrs old, then its worth a try
