Got one of these receivers off eBay, found it is authorized for the DMX music audio channels on 99w Ku. I've enjoyed the music immensely--no annoying DJ talk! However, it was brought to my attention that there is an on-board battery that will probably die in the next couple of years. Apparently, when the battery goes, so do my tunes (I would have to get unit re-authorized, and not sure I can do this for DMX service).

I'd like to change out the battery, which is one of those button-cell lithiums. If I unplug the receiver and remove the cell, I'll lose authorization, won't I? It won't just slide out; seems as though it's glued in there. I don't want to screw up my board OR lose service, if I can help it.

Any ideas?

Hmmm... if there were somehow a way to put a spare battery in parallel while you change the first one, you shouldn't clear the memory. Not sure if that is possible (or feasible)...
