I am attempting to replace the remote that came with my HR20-700 ( RC34 ) with a new remote ( RC64RB ) that I ordered from Directv.

I have gone through the instructions several time with no joy. I cannot get the new remote to do anything.

Would you kind experts guide this dummy in the correct direction, please?

Thanks in advance ....

It should work with the HR20 without having to do anything, if you are in IR mode. Have you set the DVR/RC34 up for RF operation? If so, you need to do that to the new remote.

Yes, its set for RF and I followed the programming directions to the letter and still no joy.

Try these:

1. sat
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
3. enter 0 0 0 0 1

4. press and hold MUTE & SELECT for two blinks
5. enter 9 6 1
6. press CH UP
7. enter the last 6 digits of the receiver ID #, found on a sticker in the access card compartment
8. press SELECT

Please excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean "1. sat"?
Thanks for taking the time to offer assistance.

Have it on the SATellite position on the remote. And not av1, av2 or tv positions.

Edmund,
You are officially the remote guru !

I have not had time to set up the remote I was asking about the other day yet, but, you appear to have all the answers as far as remotes go !

Do you have a book of codes and directions for the various remotes being used ?

Thanks for your help, previous and future !

Also, :welcome to the site !
