Report your EHD issues HERE!

I hope this thread is still active. I posted this earlier today in the main Dish thread, but then remember this one, so adding it here as well. Sorry in advance for the repeat.

I am not sure when this happened, but my Hopper 3 no longer displays all the recording on my external hard drive. It's currently on firmware version H707 dated May 20th. It seems to stop at 575 recording icons (115 rows x 5 per row) and I never had this problem before. I was looking for a specific recording that started with a "T" by sorting alphabetically, and it stopped in the "S"s. At first, I thought I lost everything that came after, but when I sorted by record date, there were plenty of recordings that started with letters after "S". But again, it would only show up to 115 rows. My EHD is 4TB and has no problems. Clearly, a bug has been introduced in one of the recent firmware versions. It doesn't make sense to limit the number of recordings that can be listed, especially when Disk claims we can have up to 20TB of external storage and 7TB per disk.

Same happened to me a couple years ago. I believe you have too many entries. If you go to Dates vs A-Z, you may find recordings beyond "S". If this is true, you need to split and put some on a second EHD. Let me know.

Thanks! If Dish has a limit to how many entries they can display, then they need to disclose that number. Otherwise, what is the point of allowing disk sizes up to 7TB if you can't actually see all your recordings. So now I need to add a second EHD, even though my 4TB drive is only 60% full? And I will need to add a USB hub because my second rear USB port is used for their OTA TV tuner. Dish should just fix this. I was a software developer for 40 years; it can't be that difficult.

Can a Dish support person please comment?
