Rivian R1T

Thinking I'm gonna have this loaner for the next week. Service Center just called and they're behind and didn't get to start on it today. According to the book time on the estimate there is about 1.5-2 days of work. They would need to finish by noon Friday for me to have enough time to drive there before closing and they're not open on weekends.

Half done with warranty work. SC expecting to finish by end of day tomorrow and then test drive before scheduling pickup. So I imagine it'll be ready for pickup Monday mid day or afternoon.

Service Center called at 115 this afternoon and said truck was ready except for replacing the door handle with the rfid reader, it's on back order and they'll send a mobile mechanic to replace it in a couple weeks. Truck drives like new with the new control arms and bushings. Timing almost sucked as I got to okc about 320 and west bound I-40 looked like a a parking lot near the airport. Service Center was great. Kristin had my truck out front and charged to 75%. Pulled in gave her the key fob for the loaner and she gave me mine back. Walked me out to look at my truck and was done. Less than 10 mins and back on the road taking the city streets over to Rt66 to connect to I-44 to avoid the traffic and back home at 515.

The loaner with the 21in road wheels and aero covers was more efficient than mine with the 20in all/terrain/all season tires. Used 49% in the loaner to get from my house to the service center driving 85mph on the interstate. Mine has been using 52% of the battery each way going to the service center and back home via the interstate. The speed factor is real. I only used 40% of the battery taking RT66 and driving 60-65mph to come home the first time in the loaner.

Not what you want to find at 8pm at night 100 miles from home. Was leaving lake house and tpms sensors went off. I started to ignore it thinking it had to be a bad sensor, but then decided I should check it since I would be in the middle of nowhere for an hour and sure enough it was nearly flat. Fortunately I have a full size spare, if it had been the EV9 I would have been screwed.

Was only 3 miles from lake house, so turned around and went back to the house and shop. Took 3 of us to change it in the dark with a spotlight and flashlights. Shop is under construction being expanded and only 3/4 finished so we don't have any exterior lights on it and couldn't pull it inside either. I didn't want to use the sketchy looking Rivian scissor jack and I don't have any jack pucks (ordering some this morning) and the floor jack wasn't tall enough lifting off the megawatt rock sliders. I had to get a 4x4 to put under the rock sliders and then the jack had enough height to lift it. Would have sucked trying to do this on the side of the road.

Just ordered some pucks and a 10 ton bottle jack to leave in the rivian, instead of relying on the sketchy scissor jack. Of course fate will deem I never have to use them once I have them.

While some provisions were made (on-screen instructions), changing a tire on a Rivian is a worrisome task.

Having to top the suspension (Tire Change Mode) makes it more "interesting" (in the Chinese curse sense).

I fortunately had looked at a video on changing tires on the Rivian shortly after I got it and knew enough to raise the suspension and put it in tire change mode.

I know that feeling. Sorry it happened to you, but good you were close to your place.

That has to be a lot of added weight
