My freind said he just discovered channel 379 on dish and it was showing retro tv on the logo. Is this the retro tv network thats been on fta satellite?

No it's Retro Movie channel from Encore.

It's Retroplex HD, which is an Encore movie channel, I believe.

I am surprised that Dish Network does not have RTV. Heck, its FTA.

FTA doesn't give one the right to retransmit the station. Someone is going to want some money from Dish to have it.

RTV is only available to certain places where a broadcast station is airing it on their main channel. NYC people had it for a short while last year on channel 42.1 but that station has since gone back to all informercials.

For most places it only on a sub channel and Dish does not carry those. You might be able to get it if you hook an OTA antenna up. I did and it works great.
