RuralTV/RFDTV buys FamilyNet

I thought FamilyNet was also available OTA in some areas? It seems I've seen it as a sub-channel AND the main channel for some LPTV stations.

ALSO - I just went to RuralTV's website. Their program schedule indicates that several shows mentioned earlier in this thread will begin airing next week, instead of the Jan 1 date. Here's a link to the schedule - compare this week's evening schedule to next week's: http://schedule.myruraltv.com/ - There's Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart/Newhart, Mr. Belvedere, and Highway to Heaven next week 8pm-11pm.

interesting

zap2it listings show Mr. Belvedere, Mary Tyler Moore, etc. starting 10/29 at 8:00PM on RuralTV 232, but my Dish guide says otherwise. I assume that the Dish listings just haven't caught up yet.

familynet has movin on too. but, i don't see it listed for rural tv

You may or may not know...RFD/Rural TV publishes a magazine 6 times/year which contains detailed information about programming and other interesting information. I got the Nov/Dec issue yesterday and it has an article about the FamilyNet acquisition and what viewers of both channels can expect. As the news release states - described in the first post here - programming will be merged as of January 1. But the magazine article goes on to explain that viewers will see the first signs of this next week, a "preview" of things to come you might say. So, this explains why we're already seeing Rural TV's prime time line-up changing next week. I got the impression from the article that both channels will start seeing the other channel's programming being sprinkled-in as we move toward Jan 1. Then as of Jan 1, the programming merge of both channels will be complete - and I assume two channels will become one. I never saw in the article where the channel might have a name change. Calling it Rural TV - Family Net just sounds too long. Maybe they will go with RFN or FNR or they could pick one name and drop the other. How does the slogan "Rural, Family TV - RFTV" sound?

(Gpollock87, you will likely see "Movin On" eventually show up on RuralTV - if not now, at least after Jan 1)
