Yes, big time.

Movie playback might not be as easy to distinguish between those two...

With Panasonic, make sure it doesn't overscan, i.e. hides half the status bar.

For a TV set, 32" is not that big of a screen and 720p might be sufficient, if you sit far enough.
But for a computer monitor, 32" is huge! Don't even think of going with anything less than 1080p!

I have a Panny 32" I bought in 2009, and have calibrated a few times. It's only 720p and produces a very nice image, use it as a second football tv all the time.
