And one of the reasons is disturbing. They want more money if Direct TV has their channel available via the internet. This could be a whole new headache for the subscriber.

I still have KNPN on Dish, but I watch them OTA more than I do via Dish anyway since Dish doesn't have them in HD.

2nd Network Permitted?

Just wondering, our local ABC affiliate has been off the air for two weeks now. I know the FCC rules prohibit DirecTV from bringing in a second channel of a network in order to protect the rights of the local channel. But if the local channel has asked DirecTV to remove them from the lineup during the dispute, at some point can the second network be added to the lineup? Even if it was only temporary, we would once again have access to ABC programming. DirecTV says we can download many shows from "On Demand" but that is a hassle and some shows aren't available.

No, DirecTV can't do this. It's one of the things the sat/cable companies have asked the FCC to allow, but I can't see it happening.

"Moving" to LA or NY seem like a sure thing as I've never heard of either of them getting into a dispute with providers very often.
