sat launch dates

Charlie doesn't have much to do with the launch date. It comes down to when Sea Launch can get Thuraya 3 and DIRECTV 11 launched. Echostar 11 is third in line and Thuraya 3 has already been delayed several months due to atmospheric conditions at the launch site.

Until that happens, Sea Launch will not offer any kind of dates. You may have noticed that there is no date for DIRECTV 11 either.

Other options exist, but would be expensive to pursue.

All of the launch dates for SeaLaunch (Zenit3) are guesses as they haven't completed their 'return to operations' demonstartion launch yet. The SeaLaunch platform is currently on its way and the command ship will follow shortly. So I would say that things are set in Jell-o at best.

New sats may be going up soon

[Satellite Today — 1-3-08] Sea Launch will make its next attempt to launch the Thuraya-3 satellite Jan. 15, Sea Launch announced.
Sea Launch attempted to conduct the mission, the first since the launch operator suffered a failure in January 2007, in November, but the effort was unsuccessful due to unusually strong currents at the launch site. Sea Launch has increased power and fuel capabilities on its launch platform and evaluated the use of existing margins on identified launch parameters in order to enhance its potential to perform the mission.
Thuraya-3, designed by the Boeing Co., will provide a range of mobile voice and data services over large geographic regions. Thuraya Satellite Communications Co. will expand commercially into the Asia-Pacific market when Turaya-3 becomes operational.

Where was the last Direct satellite launched from?

Is Sea Launch the only possible launch company or does Dish have a contract with this particular one??

Kazakhstan on 07-07-07 using a Proton-M Briz-M launch vehicle. AMC 14 for E* now has an ETL date of sometime in March. D* now has a ETL in the same month using the Zenit-3SL via Sea Launch. E* has a contract w/ them.
