Can someone reccomend a sat finder that will identify the bird and provide accurate readings. Right now, I am on the rooftop with my laptop using the hughes modem and registration setup to zero in on signal.

Get yourself an OPI meter, it will allow you to leave your laptop in the house and see what your computer is seeing. Need more info ?

Yup...

OPI is the cheapest accurate way ($80 if I remember right), Birdog + Opi = easiest and best but expensive ($80 + $400, Birdog to peak out signal, OPI if necessary to peak cross-pol).

To use the opi, you would set up the system normally with the OPI in the receive line, hook up the modem, enable the OPI, back outside to peak it out and go from there. With the birdog you could mount the dish, then peak it out signal wise, finish the install and then, if necessary, peak out the cross-pol using the OPI.

Either way, it will be easier then your current method:D
