I just received an email from my ISP informing me that my Internet speed will automatically double from 25Mbps to 50Mbps on Nov 1st with no increase in price.
When they raise the speed around here they don't say anything to their customers and wait for them to figure it out and call in to request an increase to the new minimum speed. I've had to do that three times now. We recently went from 60 to 100mbs minimum but I'm now paying $65. I got an offer for 400mbs for another $25 but passed on that.
Only bad part about it is, I'm 74 years old now and with failing health I don't know how long I'll be around to enjoy it! I'll probably get sub with Easy News again and catch up on what I've been missing on USENET for the past 9 years!
These days 74 isn't that old.
Is Usenet still around?
Not free anymore either.Man, I don’t mis USENET. LOT of bitter people there.
And yes, USENET is still around! Don't know what's on it now but I got a feeling I'm going to find out!

So the brother-in-law is the first one to sign for co-op fiber expansion and the big buck option.UPDATE: Well, here we are over a year later and my new 100mbs fiber connection still isn't installed?? They have moved my area out to winter of 2020, which could mean that I might not see it until some time around March 2021? Oh well! They have been running the cable around in some areas close to me, but just not to my house yet. I'm a half mile off the paved road with underground electric service so that cable will have to be underground also.
So I'm still waiting...................................
I still remember the excitement when I upgraded from a 300 to 600 baud modem.I have GoNetSpeed and ordered the 500 Meg fiver service.
They had a refer a friend program last month and now I have a full gig of fiber internet for $70 a month.
Love this service.

And the excitement when I upgraded to a 1200 baud modem, and then the utter astonishment at jumping up all the way to a 9600 baud modem. What a difference!I still remember the excitement when I upgraded from a 300 to 600 baud modem.
They did that with the fiber around here. It used to be $99 for 100M, now that they have double things a few times you get 1 Gig plus for that. I say for plus, cause they just let it run as fast as it will go. But it don't at this time go much faster than that, and to see those speeds you of course have to have 2.5G or 10G, etc- equipment in your house or business.Well they did it again. Since 2019 it has gone from 25 to 50 to 100 to 200 and now to 300Mbps and unlimited data. In those 4 years the price has gone up $10. Oh yeah, they dropped the modem fee ($7) and now provide a free modem so the price increase was just about offset by the dropping of the modem fee making it a near wash. Ask me if I miss Verizon DSL, go ahead, ask me. Uhhhhh, NO!
