Last week, representatives from the Satellite Broadcasting and Communications Association traveled to the Federal Communications Commission's Portals office to discuss issues surrounding carriage of digital TV broadcast signals.

In a meeting at the FCC, the association reps took issue with forced carriage of broadcast station multicast material by DBS operators. The SBCA said in its view the commission should not impose a forced multicast must-carry regime on DBS operators, and any carriage of multicast material should be based upon consumer demand and market forces.

SBCA Vice President David Murray and Joy O'Brien, the association's director of government affairs, met with Jonathan Cody, legal advisor to FCC Chairman Michael Powell, on the matter.
