After reading about FTA, I bought a CoolSat 6000. I have a 22X30 inch dish with 5 LNBs already in service thru a HD Subsciption service.

I can find SATs from 82 to 148.. BUT here's the question.

I have scanned the SATs that Lysat has shown for the free air, Q10 or whatever it is called at 103 if I'm remembering correctly, but all I get to show up are scrambled stations..

WHY...?? where's the Free stuff to watch. the only thing I get is NASA and couple religious stations from Angel.. (I believe it was)

I see the vertical being scanned and I see the horizontal being scanned as well thru the blind scan.. I have tried all the methods that the CoolSat has and all methods come up with same result.. only Scrambled stations.

After playing with it a week, I have disconnected it and put it in the closet.. lol... But if you guys can assist, I might get it back out..

My Signal is 100% and the Quality at a steady 97%.. while blind scanning and locked anywhere from 94% to 97%..

thx

There's really no point using a FTA receiver connected to any type of small dish, you should get at least a 31" dish (36" preferable) for FTA.

EDIT - Your subscription setup probably has switches that are not compatible with your FTA receiver.

With a FTA 36" dish you will also need a linear LNB, most FTA transmissions are linear, while most Dish Network signals are scrambled and circular.
