Since the SA HDTV box has both component jacks and and S video jack, would it be possible to use the component jacks to connect to my HDTV and the S video to connect to my TIVO? I am not sure whether these jacks are mutually exclusive or have their own independent signal. I would like to connect my TIVO to the cable box without disrupting the quality of the direct connection from the HDTV cable box and the HDTV.

I think the component jacks and the S-Video jacks will work simultaneously. The DVI jacks and the component jacks will not work simultaneously.

i know that the component, composite, s-video and coaxial or work simultaneously, not sure about the dvi though as my tv does not have dvi connection

I am fairly certain the DVI jack works simultaneoulsy with the Component jack.
Pretty sure you will be ok with svideo and comp or HDMI.
