I will clarify one point. When using something that is not supported, it will work until it doesn't. And when it doesnt(almost always is a when not if) they will tell you "sorry unsupported." If you want to use that, some folks have remedies. Hook up a powered USB hub and that should offer some assistance.

I too had to format my EHD for it to work with the Hopper. The way you format the drive varies depending on whether you are using a PC or Mac. I used the PC myself. Can you tell us what kind of computer you are using?
