I have had one receiver for Dish Network with never having any problems. Recently, I decided to add a second receiver, but the location of the receiver required about 200 FT of cabling from the satellite to get it where I wanted. Both receivers are not active. But now I'm experiences poor signals for some channels. When I disconnect the cable for the second receiver, the first receiver works fine, which is about 10 FT away from the satellite. I installed a switch to split the signal from the satellite to the two receivers. But its not a regular switch. It was something fancy from Radioshack...about $40-$50 that DishNetwork support recommended me to get.

Is there someway I can boost the signal to the two receivers? What did I do wrong?

You need a Dish switch, splitters will not work. You may be able to get some channels but with both receivers turned on, half of the channels will wind up on one of the receivers and the other half will be on the other.

More info needed on the "Dish Network recommended fancy $40-50 switch". Without knowing exactly what this switch thingy is, no one here is going to be able to give you an educated guess on what the problem might be.
