Shaw direct DVR or/and Tivo

Does anyone have any experience with Shaw and The Tivo service?

Does it work?

What % of shows are copyright protected?

Is it better than Shaw PVR?

Can you record HD on it?

it works but you have to manually set the Tivo to record. I used a hard drive/dvd recorder and it worked fine

none I ever ran across and I recorded alot

well when I got Shaw the HD receiver was 100 bucks and the 530 DVR was like 650...no brainer there

I have one of the TiVo standard definition boxes working with my Shaw Direct receiver. Neither the Shaw Direct receiver or the TiVo are HD, just standard definition. Works great.
Here is the TiVo box

Now I don't subcribe to the movie channels, but it works fine for the channels I do subscribe to. I have not found any channels that were copy protected yet. I record a lot of TCM on my TiVo. The guide works fine for Shaw Direct on the above TiVo model. I also use the online guide for programing shows to record also. I use the program KMTTG to transfer the recorded programs to my computer, and then use VideoReDo to edit the files. I have upgraded the hard drive in the TiVo to a 500GB drive using MFSLIVE to copy the image to the new hard drive. Works great. Tranfering the recorded programs off of the TiVo could be faster, but works great.
The above model TiVo TCD649080 does support Shaw Direct. Other models may not.
