At what point does the signal strength effect the quality of the recording?? I'm wondering if I should buy a external antenna, I typically get between 30-60% signal on satellite #2 and !6% on #1. With the signal being digital is it a binary thing on quality, or ????

Thanks for helping out a nubie!!

It is a "binary" thing.

As long as you have a signal you are all good. A better signal does not produce better quality audio.

(unlike traditional FM)

However.... where having better signal helps is for drop outs.

If the signal drops your recordings will drop.... so anything you can do to improve this is good.

OK Thanks -- I might just get the external antenna anyway -- the wife doesn't like things on the window sill (especially things with wires!!)
