Single feed to directtv dvr's

I know that the philips 40gb directv box has two tuners and if i connect them both up i can watch one show while it records or even watch a recorded show while it records two others

However I only have one feed into that room so will the unit function with only one feed like a real tivo?

I know with one feed i can only watch a recorded show while it records something live but that does not seem to be an issue

Yes, I have a three directivo's and one of them I have just hooked to one cable and it works just fine.

Works great with only 1 tuner connected and if you run a cable for the second tuner in the future you can connect it and have even more functionality.

thanks for the advice

went out at lunchtime and bought the 40gb philips directtv unit. of course the setup asks whether we have one or two satellite feeds so i selected one and all is well with it hooked up etc.

and at 99 dollars this is a steal!
