Size of external hard drive. is the 1T limit an absolute??

Failing to research first, i brought home a 1.5T external hard drive. For $70 I just could not turn it down.
At least I waited to open it till I read the DISH instructions.
Is 1T still the max?
I can swap it for a Western Digital My Book WDBAAF0010EBK that is only 1T but more money or i can get the WD that is 500gig for the same price as the 1.5T. I only have 2 days to do this and don't have time to order one.

612/622/722/722k can take 2TB drives.

211/211k I think still has the 1TB limit.
