Hello, My slimline 5 lnb seems to have terminated itself (as well as 4 different electronic items while I was out for dinner). I go from the lnb to a zinwell ms6x8. I bypassed the 6x8 and still no joy. The questions are, the SL5KRB should just replace the old lnb (according to the advertisement). Do I need anything else? Will it get me anything else? What are the two ports on the side for? Can it get legacy as well as swm at the same time? Will it make me happy? (just kidding about that one). Also, what DTV receivers get 4K aside from the Genie? Thanks in advance. Time to lift the ladder.

You don't need a Slimline 5 LNB anymore, you can get everything with the Slimline 3 LNB. 110 hasn't been used in ages and 119 is just used for duplicate MPEG-2 SD locals in some markets. If you still need legacy access you can get rid of 6x8 switch and replace it with a SWM-8 or SWM-16 which have legacy ports.

Only a 4K Mini Client (C61K) or Gemini connected to a Genie can view 4K channels. If your account is authorized for 4K you can also stream the events on channels 105 and 106 via the smart TV app, but events bumped to channels 107 and 108 are satellite only.

The SL5KRB is the reverse band capable Slimline 5 legacy LNB, the 2 extra legs go to the flex ports on a SWM switch. DIRECTV pretty much abandoned the reverse band after 4K ended up being an event only thing instead of 24/7 linear channels, and improvements in compression let them fit the 4K channels on the Ka transponders. So they aren't even using reverse band LNBs anymore for upgrades and new installations.
