Sling Receiver 300

Still hearing by the end of the year ,possibly by X-mas ? But to be honest I don't see it coming by then either. The 922 is not ready for prime time YET. It has been worked on for over a year and it has a way to go till it is even up to par with the 722k ,as far as capabilities like archiving, dishpass, manual recordings. Also the sling features some times works , and often doesn't reliably. Which kind of defeats using it in another place for place shifting. So I would not be surprised if the sling 300 is delayed more than just the end of the year.

Sling seems to always work on our 922. Never a problem. I was just on vacation and used it many times in place of the crappy hotel TV.

I have heard that it will be this month that the Sling receiver will show up. Let's hope so...I am getting tired of the coax out on our 46" screen. I am ready to watch TV in HD on my bed room TV. :)

Yeah, I have been pretty happy with the 922. Not sure what all the hullabaloo is all about. It works great for us.

Occasionally I am not able to connect from the web client, but typically I get it on the second attempt.

Would like to see it in a stand-alone player for PC so I can maximize on my secondary monitor.

My 922 will be installed tomorrow. I called dish again to make sure that the technician is bringing the OTA module with him. I also inquired about the 300, and the CSR who was knowledgeable, said no release date yet.

I had a 922 installed yesterday. I asked twice about the OTA module. I was told it would come. The installer showed up, No OTA module, said he does not have or carry the OTA modules. I called Dish while the installer was there. They shipped it out, said I should get it tomorrow.

The 1st 922 continually rebooted. Installer got a 2nd unit. Installed fine. after he left I realized neither the sling or weather was working. after reading some posts, I let it sit overnight. Everything worked fine in the morning.

I also asked to have my dish realigned, I was getting some satellite dropouts on 119. He fiddled with it for a bit and then did a complete replace to a single dish 62.5, 71, 77? He said everyone with 110/119 would need to be converted over.

I had the same issue with OTA. I ordered my 922 from Dishstore.net. Verified with the rep that the OTA module (which I payed for) would be on the truck and installed at the same time as the 922. Well, when the installer gets here, not only did he not have the OTA module, he didn't even know that there was such a thing for the 922 or the 722!

Thankfully all it took was a call to Dishstore and they took very good care of me. Sent the OTA module right out. Still, it seems that there needs to be a better job done of 1 communicating with installers as to what is needed, and 2 training the installers.

I'm very happy with my 922 and my Dish network service, but it just seems like there is a big problem with the installer side of things.

My installer was also clueless on what an OTA module was, but...... sorry hahler2 I did not pay for the ota module. arrived today installed myself, (although I think a gorilla tightened down the plate screws) and works well.

That's good to hear. Anyway back on topic i would really like to know when the multi room extender will be available. I'm going to be purchasing a second HDTV soon and don't really want or need another receiver.

And I'm waiting on the Sling compatible HD Monitor! That's the one I am dying for. Also waiting on the 300 and 700U.

Got my 922 installed. Great technician(thanks Ken!). Was fully comfortable during the whole setup because he had few other 922s installed in the past. The only hiccup came when TV2 was just mirroring what was on TV1 (old ViP722 home distribution network I guess). He just hit the reset button and that got it working to dual mode. Downloads didn't take very long. He initially did not bring the OTA module with him but his supervisor drove all the way to deliver it! Thanks guys.

Asked him about 300 too and he could not give any dates either and thought it might be undergoing more testing.

I'm a little confused on how you got the duo mode working. The 922 should only switch to duo mode when something is connected by sling. Otherwise tv2 should just mirror tv1. There are several threads in this forum about that issue.

At first the 922 will do dual mode until it takes down the initial software download. Then it will revert to single mode. You can get dual mode to work if you use remote access through the computer , then the tv 2 will show what is on the computer.

Was talking to a Dish Rep on the phone last night and told her I wanted a 922 when the Sling Receiver 300 came out, and she matter of factly told me that it would be available "At the end of the month". I'll take that with a grain of salt. Also, I'm not sure if she meant the end of Sept. or the end of Oct.

We'll see if she has any clue what she was talking about.

She never said which month.

I used to work at an older Weingarten grocery store when I was a kid, that didn't have an Isle #13 in the store & Isle #12 was next to Isle # 14. So when ever you have an annoying customer that you wanted to screw with, You would say that item is on Isle #13. The poor customer would go down Isle #12 then down Isle #14 then back in circles. :dev

Kind of like DISH is doing promising the sling receiver 300 at the end of the month. :neener

Scott I think you are right. My question to you is DISH going to scrap the whole sling idea and try to come up with it's own MRV option and network all our receivers together like DIRECTV?
