Small Technical Question

One feature on my old Comcast DVR was that I could be in the middle of watching a show or movie or something, push the record button, and the DVR would start the recording using the already buffered content and then start adding on to the recording. Dish's receiver just starts recording from the point where I hit the button. Is there anyway to duplicate the Comcast feature?

Yes. When you hit record you should then be able to select the option button and select Record Entire Event.

What is the limit to the recording buffer (say in terms of time of HD recording)?

You can also speed back through the buffer to the start point before pressing the record button.

Yes, 1 hour ... but that is assuming the receiver has been sitting on the desired channel. If you were on channel X and then switched to channel y that was already 30 minutes into its program and you wanted to get the first 30 minutes ... no go.
