If it's not, then the Family package, $24.99

Looking at the Dish site, I would say you are correct, not a stand alone.

You don't lose HD for life if you go to the Welcome package or pause, as long as you stay a customer.

AT120 is the smallest English package that HD for life is in HD. As mentioned above you can downgrade to welcome/family and keep your status when you come back up to AT120.

Do you get HD with the family package without paying for HD or having HD for life? (Or is there no HD in that package other than locals?)

I'm not talking about keeping the status but packages that will have HD channels that are watchable. It's summer and their less to watch so was thinking about dropping to a low package.

The Family package has absolutely no HD. Not sure if this is true, but I've also heard that HD locals are no longer included either. Not sure how that would work on EA with people that can only receive the big four in HD.

The AT 120 should allow you to keep your HD for life. A relative of mine had the Latino Dos and she has HD for life as well. But the cheapest HD package you should be able to get is the Dish America.

I would have to agree.
I had Dish America for a while before I went back to American Top 200 and I had no problem getting back HD free for life. So if you worried about losing it I would say you don't.

Locals are included in HD. It was a problem in the Dish system for some subs that is now fixed. I didn't realize it has no HD other than locals.

If you want an HD Free for Life package, I believe that the lowest added recently is Dish Latino Plus for $37.99/mo. Dish Latino Dos ($44.99) and America's Top 120 ($44.99) would be the next two HD Free for Life packs. I hope that helps! I find that you get more with Dos than Plus for $7/month more.

I have tried to find posts, but does dish Latino have English channels, if so are they identical to what's in the English top packs?

Not all channels are in English.
The one that kills it for me is history in Spanish only.

The English channel of the History Channel is in Dish Latino Max ($57.99/month).

Dish Latino packs do have English channels. They are not identical to the America's Top packages. Some AT200 and AT250 channels might be in Plus or/and Dos (Boomerang, The Hub, etc.) while some AT120 channels might be in Max (TV Land, History, etc.).

Here is a helpful link for some of the Dish Latino packs that include English and Spanish channels; http://www.dishlatino.com/paquetes_landing/Channels.aspx

I believe Plus had AMC and We TV.
Dos had those two along with IFC.
Therefore, replacement channels should be in those...

The key is aside from local channels, the Welcome Pack and Family Pack do not have HD available whether you are HD for life or not. You will not lose your HD for life status with these packs, just no HD. You have to get an AT pack, a Latino pack or Dish America to get HD on other channels.

Non-subbed 622 and OTA channels
