Smallest package w/ HD?

smallest package with HD....Dish America
smallest English package with HDFFL....AT120

Welcome Pack and Dish Family only get the locals and any freeviews in HD

The Family package has absolutely no HD. Not sure if this is true, but I've also heard that HD locals are no longer included either. Not sure how that would work on EA with people that can only receive the big four in HD.

That has been disproved already in the other thread. You do still get HD locals and ota. You don't get hd versions of the channels in Family pack or the Welcome pack -except Hd freeviews.

Locals are included in HD. It was a problem in the Dish system for some subs that is now fixed. I didn't realize it has no HD other than locals.

Here's the most recent thing I read on the matter: http://www.satelliteguys.us/dish-forum/286544-hd-locals-ota-channels-no-longer.html

I'm more inclined to believe that you are right though because as previously stated not sure how that would work with people on EA with HD-only locals. Maybe DIRT can confirm/deny, if not, anyone with concerns can PM them. EDIT: Just read further in, you're right. Poor DIRT can't even get a straight answer from Dish sometimes  .

By the way, for those wondering, I do know for a fact that switching to non-HD packages does not invalidate your Free HD for Life status. As long as your account remains, you will be able to have it when you have the qualifying package.

Welcome Pack and Dish Family DO get locals in HD if available

I asked post 62 and was confirmed post 63 in that thread

I can confirm also that on the welcome pack in the tri-cities TN/VA dma my locals are in hd.

What about the mini-packages or premium channels? Do you only get the SD channels when you have the Welcome Pack or Family Pack?

As long as you have an HD receiver, you should be able to view HD channels from premiums like HBO and a la carte offerings like the Outdoor Sports pack (as long as you subscribe to them and they have HD channels in them of course :))

Someone without HD for life, and isn't paying the $10 a month for HD anymore, has an HD recevier. Would they still get HD for those packages added on to the Family pack or Welcome pack?

You can add premium movie channels to the Welcome pack and get them in hd. But all other channels in the Welcome pack ,except your hd locals , will be in sd. You will get any Hd Free views offered. Same true for the Family pack. These are two low cost programming packs and they do not offer hd versions of them like top 120 /200/250/AEP, BUT they should .

+1. If you go with Family, you can get BBMP and all of that will be in HD. I have several friends that are movie lovers and are happy with that setup as they get the EPIX channels, Indieplex and Retroplex in HD. They get several other movie channels but those are in SD.
