Smart Card message came up

So I'm watching TV last night, and all of a sudden my VIP 622 has a message pop up that said "Smart Card not inserted properly". I pulled the plug, and the smart card, put everything back, and got the same message. But...then it came back on its own. However this morning I have the same message again. Any ideas on what I can try next. Don't tell me my receiver is bad again

Take the card out and clean it by using the erasor from a pencil then stick it back in.

If it still can not be read then its a receiver issue call dish.

Well it's been a couple days since I took the card out and cleaned the little gold square with an eraser, and it hasn't cut out yet. That seems to have done the trick. Hope it keeps working....I hate the whole swapping receiver ritual.
