Smart Card missing

My account online shows a smart card tied to my ViP722, but there is no card in the slot on the front left of my receiver. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be losing programming randomly some day, so I asked on the online chat and they said I'm good to go. Can anyone confirm this either way?

Maybe there is a hidden smart card inside the receiver that I can't see or remove. My receiver is about 3 months old and I had it swapped with another that died and that had a smart card in it. I've got the chat log if it's helpful.

Thanks...

Press menu twice, press Next a few times, check that screen where is a keyword DNASP present.
Searching here for same keyword will give more info for the question.

I have had 4 different VIP722 receivers and some of them have a built in, not hidden, software, smart card because they were built at a later date so you do not have to worry about it. I am not sure when the change took place. the one I have right now has the built in card and the SN starts with 89.

Mine starts with S19...
Good to hear that someone else is in the same boat. Many techs know more than the CSR's and that's what my tech told me. But when I went online it was confusing.

Mine: DNASP241-Dsh H02

It's working fine, so it's not that big of a deal. I was just surprised to see a smart-card ID when the installer took the old smart card with him and said I didn't need one anymore. Sounded kinda fishy.

See, you're really "good to go" ;)
I've seen the inside of those receivers, from pics posted here, but I didn't see anywhere that would indicate a place for an internal smart card that you can only access if you took off the cover of the receiver.

Do you know if it's a simple little chip or software instead of the large card that I used to have?

Look into a hole from left side ( under PS subPCB) of open box - U25.

I was talking about the R00 number started with 89. The CSR said I won't need one unless they decide to implement another security measure and then they will send us one before its needed if all goes well. I also have a 211K receiver that has a built in smart card. both receivers can have smart card added if needed. i had one before that did not have one and they sent me one because the firmware could not be updated.

Mine starts with S19...

"I was talking about the R00 number started with 89" -how come ? Perhaps you mean R89xxxxx ?
Better get that DNASP data from System Info screen. More adequate info if you're talking about level of the card.

Yea, some 722's have the new G3 cards built in where as others don't

I just love it when I sell 722's on the Dishstore and the customer calls me thinking we didn't ship them the card and tell them that the card is built into the receiver :)

I actually meant R0089. You are correct though that a more acurate way is the DNASP data for the card.

Definitely. Not all r0089 receivers have the latest card builtin. Although it was apparently sometime during this range of numbers that they apparently started doing so.

I wouldn't correlate R00 ( receiver number ) and smart card level. No evidence of the correlation. And shouldn't be due nature of changing smart cards versions.
