I purchased the Snap-N-Seal RG6Q quad coax ends(purple)+tool+stripper. I have never used this type of device before and would just like to know if Im doing it right. The purple plastic pieces came partically inserted in the metal connector with the black "O" ring facing out.

After stripping the wire correctly I slide it into the purple connector, which is still attached to the metal connector(end facing the black "O" ring) until the wire is flush with the end of the connector. The insert the whole thing into the compression tool and crank down until it snaps. Im assuming the purple plastic part is for weather seal and stays attached? I read the instructions, but some of the terms are confusing,How far off am I?
Thanks for all the groups help.

Youre doing it right. Tug on it once you get it on, it shouldnt come off easily. I ruined a couple of connectors, but finally figured it out.

Most definitely eBay. Look at these:

However, stay away from the stripper/crimper combo that I bought on eBay...see attached photo. I only paid like $30 for it, so with 50 connectors as well, it wasnt such a bad deal. I was able to make about a dozen connections before it crapped out.

Here is the tool I ended up buying:

I found it at Fry's for $34. I bought an RG59/RG6 stripper at Lowe's for $15. Altex (http://www.altex.com/product_info.php?cPath=23_29_126&products_id=1319) has it for $40.

Thanks, guys!

BTW, do I need a special stripper for these connectors, or will the same one I've been using for my regular hex-crimped connectors trim off the proper amounts?

No,

You won't need a special stripper for the NEW connectors, as long as the current stripper cuts of 1/4x1/4" off the jacket and the shield.

A couple of tips when using Snap-N-Seal on RG6 quad cable. After using the stripper you will be down to a foil layer over the final wire braid. Peal both of these back over the black jacket before pushing the connector on. The rear seal will compress all the foil and braid into the connector. Also you can make some very good but rather stiff AV cables using the Snap-N-Seal connectors and then adapters from RF to BNC or RCA connectors. I made some 30 foot component cables to run from my Voom receiver to my Sony G70 projector. Just as good signal quality as a $250 custom cable for a few dollars.
