So good so far

Went with the 2nd Hopper for the extra tuners. Also if one failed I would still have tv while waiting for a replacement. As far as the installation being more complicated, my installer had no problems at all. His only complaint was the time it took getting the hardware up and running. My installation was his third 2H/2J job. Like I said in my original post. I haven't had one single problem with it.
 
Has anyone disconnected a second Hopper and confirmed the first one still worked? Or are we dreaming of redundancy?

Yes it does work. The linked Joeys can then be switched to the other Hopper.

I can't find it (maybe at the other forum?) but yes someone did just that and each worked on it's own. Also as the post above says you can switch your joey to the other Hopper.
